Crafty Bitch

Sometimes, craftiness is born of necessity. Take my oldest child, PoKaL, for instance. They say little boys are made of "snips and snails and puppy dog tails" but I'm fairly certain that PoKaL is made of 8 grit sandpaper--at least in the knees. Of the FIVE pairs of pants in Exhibit A below, FOUR of them have less than 10 wearings to their names. So, I've essentially been transformed into a sweat shop laborer in my own home. This largely due to my absolute refusal to:
A. Buy new pants when the pants in Exhibit A are essentially new
and
B. Let PoKaL's knees stick out (I--apparently--have a "thing" about this. Who knew?)

I'm sure someone out there will think, Ummm. . . dumbass crafty chick, why didn't you just get iron-on patches? Well, that would be monumentally stupid of me considering how much scrap fabric I seem to have accumulated over the past seven years. Besides, there's a recession on and the media has terrorized me into being to fearful to purchase anything---those dirty dogs.

The wee shirts are sleeper gowns that I decided to cut off into shirts for Peanut the Wee Nut. (hmm. . . still haven't figured out what to call the little guy on the blog yet)

Then--in a truly "crafty bitch" turn of mind, I thought, hey the bottom half of these gowns would make great doll skirts for a little friend of mine. So that's what the little squares are.
And since no crafty day is complete without paint, I FINALLY finished a project I started about three months ago. I have all the letters of all three boys' names and I painted them up all pseudo-artistic-like. Of course my painting is pretty lame but I don't think the boys will notice.
Tomorrow it's paper grading and paper writing----bring it!
